A pristine white sandbank in the UNESCO Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, only visible above water at low tide. Turquoise water on all sides and no structures -- the quintessential Maldivian sandbank experience, accessible by boat from nearby resorts.

8Banana Reef

One of the Maldives' first dive sites, named for its banana shape. Located in North Male Atoll, offering overhangs, caves and strong currents that attract grey reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse and dense schools of fish.

Biyadhoo House Reef
Snorkel spot
One of the best house reefs in South Male Atoll, surrounding a small dive resort island. The reef wall drops steeply and is home to turtles, Napoleon wrasse, lionfish and regular hammerhead shark sightings at certain times of year.

Maaya Thila

Widely considered the Maldives' finest dive site, located in Ari Atoll. The submerged pinnacle is home to whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays and an extraordinary density of marine life. Night dives here are legendary.

1Hukuru Miskiy (Old Friday Mosque)
Historic site
The oldest mosque in the Maldives, built in 1656 from coral stone with intricate carved panels inside. A UNESCO-listed structure and the finest example of traditional Maldivian craftsmanship in the capital.

Alimatha Jetty (Shark and Ray Night Feeding)
Activity
Jetty off Vaavu Atoll where nurse sharks and stingrays gather nightly for an informal feeding spectacle. Wading in the shallows among dozens of sharks and rays is a unique and surprisingly gentle experience, popular with snorkelers.

World's largest seaplane operation, connecting Male airport to remote resort islands across the atolls. Seaplane transfers offer a spectacular bird's-eye view of the atoll ring structures. Most transfers to distant atolls require 20-45 minute seaplane flights.
