Fuerteventura
sand dunes · wind sports · wild beaches · Cofete
Fuerteventura has the longest and best beaches in the Canary Islands — over 150km of sand dunes, turquoise lagoons and Atlantic surf. The north has the lively Corralejo dunes resort; the south has the wild Jandía Peninsula; and the interior is a stark, windswept landscape that belongs to another world entirely.

8 Flag Beach – kitesurfing
Activity
Flag Beach lies approximately 5 minutes north of Corralejo on Fuerteventura's northern tip, within the Corralejo Natural Park, a protected dune system covering around 2700 hectares. The beach faces northwest and receives trade winds of 15 to 20 knots, sheltered enough by the island of Lobos to produce flat, calm water ideal for beginners. At low tide, rock formations emerge along parts of the shoreline. Reliable wind, flat water, and a protected natural landscape make this one of the most visited water sports spots on the island.

12 Lajares
Activity
Lajares is a small village in the La Oliva municipality of north-central Fuerteventura, roughly 10 minutes by car from three coastlines: the north, northwest, and northeast shores of the island. The village sits on a volcanic plain and retains historic windmills on its edges, remnants of the Canarian agricultural interior. Local infrastructure includes shops, bars, and restaurants, and the area has developed a community centred around outdoor sports. The central location relative to multiple surf and wind-sport sites makes Lajares a practical base for exploring the north.

18 Mirador de Morro Velosa
Nature
Mirador de Morro Velosa stands at 669 metres atop Montana Tegu in the Betancuria municipality of central Fuerteventura, within the Betancuria Rural Park. The viewpoint was designed by Canarian artist and architect Cesar Manrique, whose work across the Canary Islands integrates built structures with the volcanic landscape. Panoramic views extend toward Antigua and across both the Atlantic-facing and eastern coasts. The Betancuria Rural Park surrounding the viewpoint encompasses the oldest and most eroded volcanic terrain on Fuerteventura.

26 Los Molinos
Historic site
Los Molinos de Tiscamanita are a group of restored windmills in Tiscamanita in the Tuineje municipality of central Fuerteventura. At least one windmill has been restored to working order and houses an interpretive centre demonstrating the traditional grinding of gofio, a toasted cereal flour central to Canarian cuisine. The windmills stand on a flat volcanic plain typical of Fuerteventura's interior, where strong trade winds historically powered grain mills across the island. Tiscamanita sits in the quieter agricultural centre away from the main coastal zones.
