Skopelos
Mamma Mia film location · Agios Ioannis chapel · pine forest · Kastani beach · Glossa village
Skopelos is the lush, green jewel of the Sporades -- a pine-forested island of 96 km2 made world-famous as the filming location for the 2008 Mamma Mia movie. Unlike its busier neighbour Skiathos, Skopelos has no airport: you fly to Skiathos (JSI) and take a 1-hour ferry. This natural filter keeps the island quieter, more authentic and remarkably unspoiled. Skopelos Town (Chora), with its 120+ churches and Venetian castle, is the main base for most visitors.
