Barbados is compact but the parish roads are not served by reliable buses outside Bridgetown. Getting to Crane Beach, Bottom Bay, St. Nicholas Abbey, Harrison's Cave, and Bathsheba requires your own wheels. The east coast road (Highway 3) is spectacular but narrow, and the Scotland District interior is best explored by car. Parking is easy and free at most beaches. Barbados drives on the LEFT -- adjust for roundabouts and narrow roads. Fuel is widely available. The airport is on the southeast tip; most resort areas (Holetown, Speightstown) are 30--45 min by car.
