- Wet austral summer (November-April): the South Pacific Convergence Zone shifts south over the Society Islands, bringing heavy showers, high humidity and 170-310 mm of rain per month. Daytime 28-30 °C with frequent afternoon thunderstorms.
- Dry austral winter (May-October): southeast trade winds dominate, rainfall drops to 75-180 mm/month. Cooler 25-28 °C daytime, 19-22 °C nights — comfortable, lower humidity.
- Cyclone season (November-April): the South Pacific has its own basin; major cyclones are infrequent at Bora Bora's latitude (16°S) but historic events (Olaf 2005, Oli 2010) have caused damage. Direct hits are rare in any individual year.
- Lagoon stability: protected by a barrier reef, the lagoon stays calm year-round at 27-30 °C. Open-ocean conditions outside the reef can be choppy in trade-wind season but are not normally a concern for resort guests.
- Trade winds and 'maraamu': the SE alizés are reliable May-September; occasional southwesterly maraamu winds in winter can briefly bring cooler air and choppier seas.
