Can you swim on Hvar in October?
Yes — sea temperature in October averages 22-23 °C in the first half, dropping to 20 °C by month's end. Most beach restaurants close in mid-October.

How do Brač and Hvar compare?
Brač is larger, less developed, with the famous Zlatni Rat beach and Vidova Gora summit. Hvar is more cosmopolitan, with the busier town, lavender fields, and the Pakleni archipelago. Both share the same climate.
Is fire season a concern?
July-September has moderate to high risk in the inland pine forests of both islands. Coastal resorts are rarely affected. Avoid lighting any fires outdoors and check warnings on red-alert days.
Does it snow on the Croatian islands?
Practically never on the coast. Vidova Gora (778 m) on Brač gets occasional dustings in January-February, but it rarely settles for long.
What is the wettest month?
November, averaging 180-200 mm and 12-14 rainy days on both islands. Storms tend to be intense rather than continuous — winter has many bright dry days between them.
Are ferries reliable in summer?
Mostly yes. Summer ferries (Split-Hvar, Split-Brač) run frequently and reliably. Bura events are rare June-September. Sudden Adriatic thunderstorms can occasionally suspend services for a few hours.
