LagOmar Museum – Omar Sharif's House

Activity

LagOmar is a museum and garden complex in the village of Nazaret, Lanzarote, built in the early 1970s to a design by César Manrique and Jesús Soto. The structure is excavated directly into a volcanic rock quarry, with spaces carved through chambers and tunnels of natural lava. Actor Omar Sharif purchased the property in 1972 — giving the building its name, a combination of the Spanish lago (lake) and his first name — before it was converted into a museum in 1997. Walls of red volcanic rock are finished with white plaster in Manrique's signature style.
