Car rental in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has no rail link to the main attractions. The AMA bus network covers San Juan but does not reach El Yunque rainforest, Rincon, Ponce, or the bioluminescent bays at Fajardo and Vieques. A rental car is essential for exploring the island independently. Puerto Rico drives on the RIGHT; road signs are in Spanish but routes follow US-style highway numbering. All major US agencies operate at SJU. Rafael Hernandez Airport (BQN) near Aguadilla is ideal for the Rincon surf region and northwest coast.
