- Mild dry season (December-May): the NE 'amihan' wind dominates; rainfall on Cebu Island averages 130-240 mm/month — much wetter than equivalent dry seasons in Bali or Phuket. April is statistically driest at 17 rainy days.
- Wet season with typhoon risk (June-November): SW 'habagat' wind plus typhoon recurvature delivers 240-370 mm/month. October is typically the wettest month.
- Typhoon season (June-November, peak August-October): the central Visayas can be hit directly when typhoons recurve through. Super Typhoon Haiyan (November 2013, Yolanda) and Odette (December 2021) caused mass devastation in central Philippines.
- Equatorial warmth: 26-28 °C year-round on the coast; highland Cebu (around 700 m, e.g. Tops Lookout) drops to 18-21 °C at night.
- Sea-temperature peak: 30-31 °C April-October; sea is warm and calm in the dry-season months and becomes choppy with typhoons in the wet.
