A rental car on Elba is the best way to reach the island's most beautiful beaches and viewpoints independently. The main roads are good, but remote beaches like Fetovaia, Cavoli and Sant'Andrea require a car to visit comfortably. Drive up to the Monte Capanne cable car station, explore the hilltop village of Capoliveri, or circle the whole island in a day. Rental desks are available in Portoferraio near the ferry terminal; most visitors fly into Pisa (PSA) or Florence (FLR) and take the ferry from Piombino.
