- Marine moderation: deep Tyrrhenian water surrounds the island; winters rarely below 7 °C, summers rarely above 32 °C.
- Mountain effect: Monte Capanne (1019 m) creates small rainfall variations and a noticeable cool summit; the western half is wetter than the east.
- Fire season (July-August): moderate risk in the inland macchia and pine woods of Monte Capanne; smaller and quicker-to-respond than mainland Tuscany.
