Mellieħa Bay (Ghadira Bay)

Beach

Mellieha Bay, also known as Ghajdra Bay, is the largest sandy beach in Malta, located in the northern locality of Mellieha. The bay stretches for over a kilometre and is characterised by shallow, gradually deepening water that makes it particularly suitable for families. The beach faces northeast and is sheltered by the Marfa Ridge to the north. At its southern end lies the Ghadira Nature Reserve, a protected wetland that serves as an important stopover for migratory birds passing through the central Mediterranean.
