Għajn Tuffieħa Bay

Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, commonly called Riviera, is a sandy beach with distinctive reddish sand in Mgarr, 345 metres south of Golden Bay. To reach the beach, visitors must descend a staircase of around 200 steps cut into the cliff. The cliff walls and rocky outcrops below the waterline support sea grass beds and a variety of fish, making the bay one of the better snorkelling beaches on Malta's northwest coast. On the western headland stands the Ghajn Tuffieha watchtower, built by the Knights Hospitaller in the 17th century.
