Malta Maritime Museum – Birgu

The Malta Maritime Museum in Birgu is the largest museum on the island, housed in the former Royal Naval Bakery, a substantial stone building constructed in the 1840s to supply bread to the British Mediterranean Fleet. The museum's collection of over 20,000 artefacts traces 7,000 years of Maltese maritime history, from prehistoric dugout canoes and Phoenician trading vessels through the Knights of St John era to modern naval technology. Exhibits are presented in their Mediterranean and global context.
