Teatru Manoel is a historic theatre and performing arts venue in Valletta, named after Grand Master Fra Antonio Manoel de Vilhena of the Order of the Knights Hospitaller, who ordered its construction in 1731. Situated on Old Theatre Street, the theatre is reputed to be the third-oldest working theatre in Europe and the oldest still operating in the Commonwealth of Nations. The intimate Baroque auditorium seats around 620 and has hosted opera, ballet and theatre continuously for almost three centuries.
