National Museum of Archaeology – Valletta

The National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta occupies the Auberge de Provence, one of the finest examples of Baroque civic architecture in the city, built in 1571 by Maltese architect Glormu Cassar. The museum's collections span the full arc of Maltese prehistory from the earliest Neolithic phases through the Phoenician and Roman periods. Among the highlights are the Sleeping Lady figurine from the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum and decorated limestone friezes from the Tarxien Temples. The museum is managed by Heritage Malta.
