Ramla Bay — Gozo (red beach)
Beach
Ramla Bay is a bay with distinctively reddish-orange sand on the northeast coast of Gozo, lying between the bays of Marsalforn and San Blas. The unusual colouration results from iron-rich minerals in the local limestone. The closest settlement is Xaghra, reachable via a winding valley road. On the hillside at the western end of the beach stands the entrance to Calypso Cave, traditionally identified with the mythological home of the nymph Calypso in Homer's Odyssey. Ramla is Gozo's largest and most popular beach.
