Dwejra – Inland Sea & Azure Window ruins

Nature

Dwejra is a coastal area on the western shore of Gozo, centred on the Inland Sea, a sheltered lagoon connected to the open sea by a narrow rock tunnel. The area was internationally famous for the Azure Window, a 28-metre natural limestone arch that collapsed during a storm on 8 March 2017. The surrounding waters, including the Blue Hole dive site, remain one of the most biologically rich marine environments in the Maltese Islands. Fungus Rock, the 60-metre limestone islet, stands at the entrance to the bay.
