Ta' Pinu Basilika – Gozo

Historic site

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu is a Roman Catholic minor basilica situated around 700 metres from the village of Gharb on the island of Gozo. The imposing Romanesque-Byzantine structure was built between 1920 and 1932 on the site of a 16th-century chapel where a voice was reportedly heard by a local woman in 1883. The original chapel is incorporated into the rear of the basilica, which is flanked by a single campanile rising 35 metres above the surrounding farmland.
