Mnajdra (UNESCO)

Mnajdra is a megalithic temple complex on the southern coast of Malta, approximately 497 metres from the Hagar Qim site. Built around the fourth millennium BC, the complex consists of three adjoining temples whose doorways are precisely aligned with the rising sun at the solstices and equinoxes, demonstrating sophisticated astronomical knowledge. Along with other Maltese megalithic structures, UNESCO designated Mnajdra as a World Heritage Site in 1992. A protective tent shelter was completed over the site in 2009.
